Underwriting
Analyst
HCC Life Insurance Company (HCC Life) is
seeking an Underwriting Analyst for the
Underwriting department. HCC Life
Insurance Company is a subsidiary of HCC

This position will report to Wakefield,
MA. HCC operations consist of
underwriting agencies; intermediaries; and
life, property and casualty insurance
companies which are rated A+ (Superior) by
A.M. Best Company and AA (Very Strong) by
Standard & Poor's. HCC specializes in
diversified financial products; group life,
accident & health; general aviation;
property; marine and energy; and other
specialty insurance.
This is an entry-level professional
position, ideal for recent college graduates
with a degree in business or risk
management. The Underwriting Analyst
will report to the Regional Underwriting
Manager.
Responsibilities
- Compile relevant underwriting
information to be entered into HCC Life
internal databases by Underwriting
Assistants.
- Evaluate, analyze, and/or interpret
plan documents, amendments, and/or
schedules of benefits provided by TPA/Brokers.
- Data entry of all pertinent
information obtained through the
analysis of REP's to generate manual
rates through Aspen and PA databases.
- Evaluate, analyze, and/or interpret
aggregate reports provided by TPA/Brokers
to determine risk and also assist
Underwriters with their determination of
discretion to assign.
- Generate analysis reports for
underwriters, illustrating the progress
of the HCC Life Underwriting Department
and other factors pertaining to renewal
and the new business growth.
Skill Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret such
as plan of benefits, bid specifications,
claim reports, and procedural manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and
correspondence.
- Strong math aptitude including
ability to work mathematical concepts
and to apply concepts such as fractions,
percentages, ratios, and proportions to
practical situations.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office
Package.
