Welcome
- a message from Craig Kelbel, President
& CEO
When I first joined
HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc., back in 1999, the A&H
division had approximately $200 million of in-force
premium. When we closed our books in 2006, HCC Life had
more than $800 million of in-force premium. This growth
is the result of our continued expansion of our organic
business in addition to the acquisition of the A&H
division of Allianz Life Insurance Company. HCC Life is a market
leader in medical stop loss, HMO, and Provider lines of
business and as many companies exit the A&H market, HCC
Life continually searches for ways to expand our niche
A&H writings. Read more
Review of in-network claims generates plan
savings
In the self-funded
industry, we continue to see plans pay in-network claims
without review because contracts between the payor and
networks do not allow provisions for questioning of
charges. HCC Life finds this type of agreement

billing errors, excessive mark-ups, and unbundled
charges. Read more

Advisory Board feedback
leads to faster policy services
HCC Life
held another Advisory Board Meeting during the 2007 HCC
Life Producer Summit to review our current procedures
and requirements for Medical Stop Loss and Group Life
policies. At HCC Life we strive to continually improve
our processes and the feedback of our Advisory Board is
critical. The input prompted several changes that we
feel will help HCC Life issue policies not only faster
but more efficiently with our producers. Read More
