Review of in-network claims generates plan savings
In the self-funded industry, we continue to see plans pay in-network claims without review because contracts between the payor and networks do not allow provisions for questioning of charges. HCC Life finds this type of agreement disconcerting because plans are expected to pay for billing errors, excessive mark-ups, and unbundled charges. Read more

Improving the outcome of prematurely born infants with respiratory failure
The past decade has seen dramatic advances in the treatment of premature infants with respiratory failure.  These have included the use of non-invasive blood gas monitoring, artificial surfactant, newer ventilators with a variety of ventilatory modes, high frequency ventilators, Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), nitric oxide, pharmacologic methods of closing the patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), and pulmonary function monitoring. Read More

Advisory Board feedback leads to faster policy services
HCC Life held another Advisory Board Meeting during the 2007 HCC Life Producer Summit to review our current procedures and requirements for Medical Stop Loss and Group Life policies.  At HCC Life we strive to continually improve our processes and the feedback of our Advisory Board is critical.  The input prompted several changes that we feel will help HCC Life issue policies not only faster but more efficiently with our producers.
