Craig Kelbel

Craig Kelbel assumed the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of HCC Life Insurance Company in January, 2005. In addition to his current role, Craig also serves as Executive Vice President of HCC Insurance Holdings as a member of the company's Executive Management Group. Mr. Kelbel is an alumnus of the University of Wisconsin where he earned a bachelor's of science degree in Criminal Justice before pursuing a career in the health insurance industry that has spanned more than 29 years, eight of which have been with HCC.

He started his health insurance career in 1977 as Underwriting Manager for Time Insurance Company and held the same title with United Chambers Administration in 1983. In 1984, Craig worked as an Operations Manager for the MGIS Companies for six years before joining US Benefits Insurance Services, Inc. as Vice President of Underwriting. During his nine-year stint with US Benefits, Craig was quickly promoted to many executive positions including Senior Vice President of Underwriting, Executive Vice President and CEO, and was President and CEO when the organization was acquired by HCC Benefits Corporation (now HCC Life Insurance Company) in 1999. The following year, Mr. Kelbel was appointed President, CEO and COO of HCC Benefits.
